Percutaneous Instrumentation Patent Announcement

ST. PAUL, Minn. Spineology Inc., the innovator in anatomy-conserving spine surgery, is excited to announce that the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has issued a Notice of Allowance for its U.S. Application Serial Number 12/650,889, entitled, “System and Method for Performing Percutaneous Spinal Interbody Fusion.” 

A major trend in spinal surgery is reducing the invasiveness of surgical procedures.  Reducing surgical invasiveness has been shown to reduce post-operative discomfort and long-term morbidity leading to reduced hospitalization and quicker patient recovery.  This patent covers methods of performing percutaneous spinal fusion procedures through an opening of less than one centimeter.
