OptiMesh® 500
The OptiMesh® 500 series mesh is designed to contain PMMA (bone cement) in orthopedic procedures such as total hip and knee arthroplasties.
Surgical control of materials like PMMA can be challenging for doctors because bones are very porous due to their vascularity. Because of this porosity, PMMA can leak out of the areas where physicians intend to place it.
The OptiMesh 500 mesh has a very tight pore structure to help control PMMA flow.
Features:
- Constructed of multi-strand Polyethelene Terephthalate (PET) thread
- Deployable for minimally invasive implantation
- Supplied on an easy to handle metal tip that can release the mesh percutaneously
- Radiolucent for ease of intraoperative PMMA imaging
- 500 micron nominal pore size (.5mm) provides low surface porosity to restrict PMMA flow
